Amawushe Junior Secondary School, a beacon of learning and hope, was founded in 1986 through
the visionary efforts of Honourable Chief J.G Bly (Mjoli) and the dedicated Amawushe community.
Named in honor of the esteemed Inkosi Wushe Mjoli, the school stands as a testament to the rich cultural
heritage and educational aspirations of the region. Over the years, the school has seen significant transformations,
with renovations and new buildings graciously funded by the Department of Education,
ensuring that the infrastructure meets the evolving needs of its learners.
The school's leadership has been marked by a succession of dedicated principals, beginning
with Ms N Phato, who laid the groundwork for academic excellence. She was succeeded by Mrs Hloba,
whose tenure saw the strengthening of the school's educational programs. The current principal,
Mr M Dlamini, continues this legacy, leading the school into a future filled with promise.
Nestled in the Rauka location within the Umzimkhulu Municipality, under the Harry Gwala district
and just a stone's throw from the Rietvlei Hospital, the school's location is both scenic and strategic.
Catering to grades R through 9, Amawushe Junior Secondary School boasts ten well-equipped classrooms
where young minds are nurtured and prepared for the challenges of the future. The school's commitment to
providing a comprehensive education is evident in its vibrant curriculum and the supportive learning
environment it fosters. As the school continues to grow and adapt, it remains a pillar of the community,
proudly carrying forward the legacy of Inkosi Wushe Mjoli and the founders' dream of empowering the youth through education.
Choosing Amawushe Junior Secondary School means choosing a nurturing educational environment that prepares students for success in all aspects of life.
